Default Oil drain hose Oring question

On the 95 the factory seems to recommend one of two options for this application. Either the single thin Oring on the left (lower picture) or using 2 of the thicker Orings on the right. The single is to small for the groove obviously and the groove will only fit one of the larger ones. I will use only one of the thicker ones unless anyone has a better suggestion. Has anyone else come apon this? thanks for your input. Doug

The thin one goes right next to the mounting flange.

Hi Andreas So the thin one goes where the brownish spot is on the flange. Ok. Whats up with the porsche diagram calling for two of the thick ones and/or one thin one . Did that change for the later models or have they made a mistake?? thanks Doug

Doug, this is my take on this.

You seem to only have one groove in the oil return pipe...for one O-ring, which is why they might be using that thin O-ring that sits against the flange...just in case.

My oil return pipe has two separate grooves which is why I use two 21.89 x 2.62 O-rings, part number: 999 707 316 40.

My late built 95 has two separate grooves for two thick orings.

My early 95 only has 1 groove.

Lighter = faster

IIRC I used a little one by the flange and a large green one in the groove. I don't remove that line when I change oil, only did during engine drop.

One less Oring = less weight =faster... but one less groove probably balances it out. Mine is a later 95 with one groove... they liked to change it up a bit I guess.

Doug,
My 993 is a 6/94 build with one groove. I pull the line every year when I change the oil and replace both o-rings (thick & thin) as well.
