Default Why I eat Chinese food the night before track days

First track day of the year. First track day in the wet. First track day in a 911. First track day on these tires. I'll admit to being a bit nervous, until I got to this portion of the meal...and then suddenly, serenity.

Was Wednesday actually. And quite a lot of fun! I started out the rolling chicane in the group but by the end of the day I was starting to get the hang of this thing and am looking forward to getting out again. Too bad Pacific Raceways has no spectator areas except along the straight, on track photography from the bleachers is quite bland.

The bee may also be Confucius's way of telling you the 911 has a sting its tail

Have a great day out - stay safe and have fun.

(I've got my first track day in my 993 in May, so you can give me some ribbing then )

Close; that's why I have burritos for breakfast. Chinese for luck, and Mexican for weight reduction.

You and I both! But I get track insurance so that definitely helps put one's mind at ease. So far it has always been a waste, and hopefully I keep it that way, lol! Good luck with your first day as well and let us know how it went!

My track advice....Easy does it, start slow (REALLY slow) and build up. Even with track insurance, you do not want to "just walk away from it". My other advice: Do a lot of AX events to learn the nuance of car control. You don't want to learn throttle steering, pitch and catch at very high speeds on a track...cones are very forgiving, walls and tire barriers not so much.

You are so right. Unless they pick a poor location for the auto cross and set the cones up too close to a wall. Then, well......

Something to be said for the oriental ways. I have an inclination to get car sick if my students aren't smooth so, in addition to telling them that I could barf in their car (great incentive to be smooth!), I take a couple of ginger root tablets with breakfast. Seems to work!

Thankfully I've done a fair few tack days before, just none in my 993 (a very recent purchase, solely for track use). I'm off to Spa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circuit...-Francorchamps , so the take it easy advice is exactly what I'll be attempting to follow. Must avoid the red mist

Incredibly historic track! Enjoy the experience.
