The only "bad years" are the years you didn't own a 993

This is the only one related to the heads that I have

Hi Bill ... ok, of course, I couldn't find a paper copy .. but just for you I called the shop and asked about it and they said it was a failure due to defective cylinder head studs .. I guess they would work loose out of the block .. and that caused leaking and eventually failure. The referred me to this:

Yeah, I think were getting hung up on semantics here. The results of these studs allowing the head to come loose cause the head gasket to fail and oil to leak out at the cylinder base .. it's not a 'weeping' problem, it's a leaking problem ..
Anyway, TSB out in November '96 so this would be MY '97 and on which are the physical cars I've seen ..

^^^ I should edit that and say it probably could be ANY engine on any year that used those Crankcase studs ...

What does the TSB on the oil drain plug say? I'm having an issue with leakage right now that others here on Rennlist believe may be the plug.

Interesting post, the VIN for my car is specifcally mentioned in the TSB. My VIN ends in 0225 and was manufactured on 1/27/1994 so the dates mentioned are spot on. In the preceding years I have since replaced the suspension components because of age.
