Default Pretty 993!

Reading through the posts above this one, I guess the guys and gals have said it all. Nice looking car! I wish you well with it.

Two comments. You really need to consider ditching the K&N. The oil from the element will coat out on your MAF and really screw up performance. In reality, the stock paper filter actually does a great job and I doubt that you can really tell any difference in performance with the K&N. There were a number of comments in the posting suggesting that. I'm putting it a little firmer.

Second, I believe that Andreas helped another Rennlister do the tranny drop to do a clutch and did a nice job documenting the change out. Actually, it is a fairly easy drop except for the throw out fork. You have to remove its cross shaft in order to split the trans from the engine. Doing that with the engine in the car should not be too tough; however, the tough part will be installing the cross shaft on the install. Andreas makes it sound easy, but I suspect he got lucky in doing the "blind stab" of the cross shaft.

I will odder a new stock filter and replace the k&n when it arrives.

I have been warned about the issue with the fork. I was told to tape it in place before lifting the transmission up and that will help. Will let everyone know how it goes.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

A few people have mentioned swapping out the transmission mount since I replaced the engine mounts with the RS spec ones. I cant find a transmission mount for a C4, other than a stock one or a solid one. Is there an option out there I have not been able to find?

I called Rennline this morning and ordered a engine carrier, should be here Monday. I went with the 'ready to go' option rather than order the gusset and find out mine is bent/broken or whatever and it also saves me from having to find a welder and paint it. I figured by the time I paid someone to weld it, then brought it home, cleaned paint etc, it was better to just order one all ready to go. I need to get a welder.

Update
Got the reinforced engine carrier installed last night.

Still looking for a stiffer transmission mount, anyone have a link or name? I did not have any luck finding one for a C4S.

Removed the K&N filter, installed Mahle brand filter.

Corrected a few issues i found during installation of engine carrier. Mostly bolts and clamps that were missing or not tight.

Alignment and new tires at Blair Talbot. Blair is a super nice guy and very helpful. Toe was way out (or in?) the front of the rear tires were closer together than the rears. / \ like that. A lot. Went with Hankook Ventus V12 evo tires all around. The car is MUCH MUCH better! Love it!

The RS clutch and lwf should be here friday. Cant wait to get tht done. For now, that is the last 'project' aside from general maintenance and clean up. I will probably begin removing the transmission thursday so I can get the clutch done before the weekend. If anyone has hints/tricks/etc let me know.

Thank you for all the compliments and thoughts!
