Question Were 18" wheels standard equipment 1997, 1998 ?

Were the 18" Technology (turbo Twist) wheels standard equipment starting in 1997 through 1998 for the 993's?

Here is the info for the 398 option from the option decoder

398 17 " 5-Spoke Wheels (P205/50ZR17 front, P225/40ZR17 rear) [1996]
398 18" Technology Design Wheels [1997]

for reference:

I just sold my 1984 3.2 (Slate blue/navy sport seats). I agree that the black-centered Fuchs are classic. For my newly acquired 96 993 (Silver/blue), I just ordered a set of used hollow spoke 18s Twists to replace the 17" Cup II, which are in excellent shape with new Michelin rubber from the dealer. Maybe I'll wait to see how I like them, but I may have a mint set of Cup IIs for sale.

Cup IIs on a "proper" ride height (Euro or lower) 993 look great and have that correct appearance. Classic.

"Ed, I am with you on the bi-polar, non-symmetrical twists."

Bi-polar, great description!
I offered my opinion of those goofy twists on this board several times, but no bites; beginning to think no one else noticed or cared.

I have the Cup II's on my bone stock '95 NB and would not change them for any reason.

I brought it up about a year ago and some replied stating that they didn't even realize they all twisted in one direction only. Others got a bit defensive. Same for the spoke to wheel nut ratio. I prefer 1:1 or 2:1. I like five or ten spoke wheels; not anything in between.

I like the Cup II wheels quite a bit and way more than the 993 turbo twists. However, they are lesser than 996 MY '02 wheels, 997 five spokers, Fikse FM-10's and BBS LM's. IMHO.

Part numbers for the 993 NB cup II's:

7J x 17 ET (mm) 55 Part Number: 993 362 124 00
9J x 17 ET (mm) 55 Part Number: 993 362 128 00 61M

Just wanting to get her back to 100% bone stock. So any help on where to look would also be appreciated.

Current car details:

1997 C2 Coupe 993 6-speed with 19,400 mi. Guards Red w/ Classic Grey partial leather interior, zero options other than in-dash CD, color crest caps...also MIA, and the CO2 emissions for North America.

Pics to come...

I've been waiting to replace my last baby for some time.

My previous car:

Was a '96 Polar Silver with Midnight Blue coupe, 43K, tiptronic. It had the beautiful Sport Classic II wheels and a bunch of other tasty options. Crest embossed in the headrest, driver and pass 12-way seats, on and on...come to think of it I need to change my avatar to the new German Beauty.

Let the spending begin...as my wife said when I found the red coupe :-)
You are 100% correct.
The CUP II is an awesome wheel and would look much better on your Carrera.

Im still looking for a Carrera on CUP II wheels to add to my collection.

Wheels are and always will be a personal choice.

While there is nothing about the Cup IIs that scream LOOK AT ME like some other aftermarket wheels, or RS Speedlines, they do provide a clean, classic look. They are not heavy and 17" tires are less expensive and more comfortable. you can't go wrong with them for a street car.

If you prefer something a little more unique and individual Cup II's might not fit the bill, unless you go with a custom color.

Cup II is a very good wheel as all Porsche OEM wheels tend to be.

PS tommyg: your caps are not aligned with your valves! Crest bottom should be pointed at the valve...

I want my 95 to look like TommyG's. Simply beautiful!
So I guess I'm in the market for Cup II's too!
