There's a German company that's creating an "equivalent" but more modestly designed car based on the '87-'89 chassis for about half that cost .. can't remember the name offhand but I'll work on it.

Doesn't have the 'presence' of the Singer, and probably lacks in the engine dept but I could love that too. The bespoke nature of the Singer is what drives the price of that car into the stratosphere.

wouldn't it be way more fun and involving to start with a tub and build your own?

If I had that kind of cash, I would probably purchase a Ruf, but build my own "classic"

No question ... but it's half price Also ... not based on a 964 chassis unfortunately .. which the new Singer cars are .. (not the ones in the pictures posted by the O.P. albiet ..)
