not quite as hard as black....but much more rewarding!
Fully agree that it is the chameleon of colors....sometimes it looks dark blue, just blue, metallic blue, purple, or black
Did I miss any?
I had 4 black cars and agree that Midnight Blue is easier to keep looking good. Also agree that the color looks very different depending upon conditions. Mine is in my sig.
I could definitely enjoy ocean blue or iris blue though.
The 4s at true speed is dunkel blau. My 86 3.2 is the same color, it s a Matt dark blue. Not common on 3.2s but certainly Very rare on 993. The paint ref is 347.
It's interesting how the "blues" look so different under different lighting conditions. The aerokit and split grills parts in the pic below are both the exact same: Zenith Blue. In the shade it looks blue, in bright sunlight it looks purple/violet. I try to stay in the shade
I just realized that the Boxster pics I posted above, are NOT Iris but rather Lapis. I double checked my paint code, it's 3A8, for a 2002 986 S, it's Lapis.
I was about to order a special plate that referenced the color, good thing I checked !
Iris blue can look completely different depending on the lighting.
It looks very light in that fourth picture of the thread. Doesn't really look that light in the flesh.
Here are some iris blue unedited photos from different lighting conditions. It has violet tone in the sunlight but sometimes in different sunlight it looks very much like Ocean Blue. Strange these Porsche blues... they are all very much like eachother. I believe Zenith is more different as it has that purple tone while Iris and Midnight are violet.
