Fellow 993 Enthusiasts-
Mark Your Calendars for the First "993 FEST"!
I have gathered enough support to determine there is sufficient interest in putting an event together. I will volunteer to head this event up and provide the necessary sponsorship.
I know many people have discussed putting together a 993 specific event but I figured it just takes one person to take the initiative.
Here is my proposed program, feel free to add suggestions and ideas:
Date: Saturday June 16th and Sunday June 17th. I have checked the calendars for our 3 local PCA groups (NW, Oregon and INWR) as well as National and we have no major conflicts. Historically we should have fairly good weather this side of the mountains as well.
Location: Richland, WA (~3 hours East of Seattle or Portland, ~2 hours South of Spokane) with tours starting in Vancouver, WA (PDX), Issaquah, WA and Spokane, WA.
Time: Drives leaving at 8am Saturday morning from each location. I would LOVE Rennlisters from farther away and will even offer a nice prize for the member who comes from farthest away!
Route: As much as possible I would plan a route that minimizes Interstate Travel and maximizes winding roads less popular with other citizens and those driving a certain recently discontinued rear wheel drive American sedan…
Seattle- Leaving from Issaquah Triple XXX-fun route planned but will be kept on the down low...
Portland: Leaving from QFC in Camas at 192nd.
Spokane- Meeting place TBA.
After Lunch- We will lead a roughly 2 hour local tour of some of our “fun” backroads on the way to my facility in Richland, WA. We will break up into a few groups depending on skill, comfort level, etc.
993 Gathering/Quick Clean up/993 Display: I will open up my detail bay and Griots products for those wanting to clean off bugs, remove brake dust off the front wheels, etc. We will have an informal gathering of the cars and start the all important 993 BS session. I would love the photo opportunity to get them all together, how many can we get? I can easily handle 50+ cars.
Food and Beverages: I will arrange to have food at my location in a BBQ style format, kegs of beer being served by one of our local Breweries and at least one local winery.
Lodging- I can arrange a group rate for anyone interested at the Red Lion in Richland ~3 miles from my shop. The general manager is an active PCA member so he has offered us rooms for a great rate.
Sunday: 9:00 A.M. Breakfast gathering at the Red Lion in Richland. Return drive via selected fun routes at each groups leisure.
Please feel free to contact me with suggestions, offers of help, RSVP’s, etc..

I'm going to get some prepaid legal insurance and mark this on my calendar!
Key concept so far we've come up with, I'm no authority here, but it's always good to set the understanding early with regards to what this is all about.
1. Driving will be as Porsche intended. The more you agree the further up in the pack you can drive
2. Conversation will be annoyingly slanted toward performance and 993s specifically. If you aren't keen on that, bring an iPod or stay home.
3 passengers will be thrilled or nauseated. So bring a pill, patch, homeopathic wristband or ride in back with a vomit bag. But don't complain cuz that's why we're doing this.
4. This is a 993 event. Another aircooled Porsches are welcome as long as you've had one, want one, or just love them too. We are not elitist but for the photographers amongst us please ride in back phone get the shots they are looking for, park with the same understanding.

Ok this event is really starting to take shape...
So far we have almost 20 confirmed, that's a damn lot of 993's. Please join us and we could make this the largest gathering of 993's to date.
So far the largest gathering of 993's that I have come across reported 28 993's... Anyone know differently?
