Default Caliper Rebuild Issue

After reading about so many of us rebuilding our calipers, I decided to give it a go. I am also going to have them powder coated. I got all the pistons out, but I cannot budge even one of the allen-headed screws that hold the brake pad retaining clip in place. I have tried brake cleaner and wire brush to no avail. Also, I am not positive I am using the correct allen wrench. I have tried a 4-mm and a 5/16, but neither seems to fit as well I as I would expect. Any advice? Am I using the correct size allen? These are the non-turbo black brake calipers.

I've removed a lot of these and find most of them to be a torx headed screw. Even with the correct tool, most times I have had to chisel them loose. Chisel the head on its side in the CCW direction. They will pop loose.

Thanks guys. There was so much brake dust caked in the holes I could not tell it was a torx. Of course, I do not have the right size torx, so, off to the store.

Amazingly I did not have to chisel a single one. With the right tool (thanks again Chris and Andreas) they all came loose and I did not bust a single knuckle either

John, looks like you solved your issue. Please check your PM's. I left you a question about mechanics.

Thanks.

Yep, and I agree with KBell, this place is great.

Ernie, I do not know one but I put out the word with a couple of people that will. I will let you know.
