Hallo Marc,
Die Sonnenblenden in Leder find ich sehr geil......
Muss ich auch mal machen (lassen). Was zahlt man in Deutschland für sowas?
Gruss AUStralien

Hallo Martin,
das war ein Paket-Preis, insofern kann ich das nicht einzeln benennen. Einfach bei AP nachfragen...
in english:
The total-price was a package-price, I have no idea about the price of the individual components. Just ask ap-cardesign...

Great carbon work, Marcus is a master!
Full leather ist great too! Really nice car!
Contrast stiching is not my cup of tea and i'm not that big fan of the upholstery finish quality from AP...

Interesting. The upholstery guy at 9m uses a technique he learned doing special wishes interiors at Bentley that doesn't modify the parts thickness, they reduce the leather thickness by Skiving. He has access to a 'skiving' machine that removes layers of the leather from the back as it's run through the machine down to a specified mil thickness and then the leather is cut for trimming and applied with heat and glue. All of the small trim bits are leather covered including the yolk behind the steering wheel, dash end pieces, door cap trim and threshold trim strips without modifying the parts at all. The skiving machines are expensive and it takes training, time and skill to master, I remember Andrew at 9m saying he'd been doing it for 30 years. The two times I've been in Porsche's interior shop, the same two people were at those machines although the visits were two years apart ...

perfect example:
There are some quality results between these both,
but personally i only could live with the perfect finish!
Marc, what i see is not worse but it´s not perfect, hope you didn´t spend big bucks on it!

^^ Beautiful color leather .. do you know what that is? Looks like what Porsche now calls Cocoa.
Anyway, I think Marc's leatherwork looks very good .. I actually thought AP had used a Skiving machine to get those results just based on the sunvisors .. and I guess either way you do it, either by removing material from the part or the leather itself will produce similar results, right?

Timely thread as I'm considering having my door pulls & arm rest covers/hatch covered in leather w/grey stiching. Has anyone had these done by "Classic 9" and can vouch ?
I may wait until winter as I don't want to be w/o these pcs. during prime driving season.

The german word for "skiving" the leather, is "spalten". Porsche uses this technique for several parts, for example for the lamellas of the nozzles. If you take other parts, for example the cover of the box at the door-panels and if you take off the leather of the original Porsche-parts, you will find, that the base is thinner below the leather in some details, than those parts without leather-option.

do you know the upholsterer, who covered the aibag modul with leather? Or is it factory? I've asked several specialist (incl. Andy) but everybody regret to do it becouse of safety reasons.
Anyway, this burn oak color is fantastic, would be graet to see more details from the complete car..

Arpad
