Default My AC evaporator went kaput. Any alternatives?

So we have a run on Sun and my AC evaporator has a leak. There are no 993 evaporators here. Can anyone suggest a similar one from a different car? It could cut my shopping time and I might make the run on Sun

I haven't heard of any alternatives. BTW, have fun taking out the gas tank.

Check out AutohausAZ. They sell a Behr Evaporator (the Porsche OEM) for a little under $400. I put mine in late last fall, works fine.

Oh my That looks like a ton of work. I am not doing it but my shop said it was hard. Looks like I am not going to the run on Sun. We have Behr here but I just contacted another shop where they outsource custom evaporators. They have done 3 993's and their AC's are cold. Its 35c over here so I need an AC!

I cant find use 964 parts here too but the thought crossed my mind.

Thanks for the inputs guys.

The gas tank is not bad, just get one of the push/pull pumps at the auto parts store, rig up a hangar to hold the hose end and get it down to the absolute lowest part of the tank (use an LED flashlight for help). Mine came out without any fuel spill that way.

The rest of the work is really easy, just takes a while. I posted some pics recently and still have the repair fresh in my head if you need help, just ask!

+1 on this evaporator. Replace mine a couple of years ago and it works just fine. Helped another R'lister replace his with the same. Used this DIY from p-car.com to aid in replacement.

I replaced mine 3 or 4 years ago with the Kuel from Griffiths. It blows ice cold, even here in Tampa in August.

Hi falcondrivr,

Is their a need to purchase an expansion valve too? Or the serpentine evaporator comes along with it?

Thanks
