In terms of hills, I have a LWF here in San Francisco and I use the car as a daily driver. To my experience, once you get used to the LWF, hills aren't really an issue. And we got hills here...

That's odd...you replaced more stuff than I did! I re-used my clutch fork and shaft (although they looked fine). Although..did you replace either or both of the master and slave cylinders?

Default I have a 96' and...

[QUOTE=mongrelcat;9328984]He has a '98, no issues with stalling... (put the extra $500 towards something else.)

I have the MWF, and I still find it challenging to work sometimes.

After speaking with Steve Weiner I bought the Andial MWF because he said that it is the ONLY way to assure that the car will not stall when coming to a stop light. If you "find it challenging" to operate a 993 with a MWF you need to learn how to drive a manual transmission. The LWF I have on my turbo is another story altogether. It is like an on off switch and does take some extra concentration to engage smoothly.

G$ 993, If your interested in a LWF setup I selling mine here's what I have:
Light weight flywheel Bremkek 96411401299 no chatter or heat mark looks as new

Clutch disk Sachs 1861568331 6 spring center still has number on friction disk

Clutch cover from GT3/GT2 or TT old number 3083042001 superseded to 3082213136 verified parts number from Sachs tech dept
same used for the 996 GT2/Turbo/GT3. still has groves from when new

RS guide tube 95011681330(Porsche) No picture but will be included

RS throw out bearing 94411608001 (Porsche)

these parts were in my car for less that 1000 miles
I think these parts combined weigh about 1/2 of the dual mass set up
New cost around 1,600
Used, looking for 850.00 will include shipping

I also have 2 dual mass fly wheels and Pressure Plates an throwout bearings too if that the direction you want to go.
let me know if interested because I do have the LWF/clutch for sale on another board

Please join as a member to sell stuff.
Also: that is a screaming deal. All one needs is the shorter flywheel bolts and it's a complete package.
GLWS!

Is there anyone in the Portland area with an LWF whose car you could just check out? What's nothing to one pair of ears is obnoxious to another. Maybe Steve can refer you to someone?

As far as noise, my take on the idle rattle is it's negligible compared to the low RPM acceleration sound..probably wouldn't notice it unless you were looking for it, and with the radio at any volume I can't hear it. The low RPM accel noise is considerable though, that yellow-orange thing was in the sky today so I was driving around with the windows down, and was a little shocked at how loud it was outside the car. Granted it's a pretty tame exhaust system noise-wise, but the Dach X and motor sound mufflers were no match for it..

I have the short bolts if you want but its not recommended (stretch bolts). the bolts cost about 4.00 each 9 needed and while your there may as well order the shift fork bearings and bushings cost about 5.00 for the bearings each

I replaced the fork/shaft as they had 130k miles... Yes, the master/slave and slave hose were replaced, and the kinematic lever was updated.

I have a '95 with lwf. I've had it for ten years without any stalling or issues. I don't see the point of upgrading and going mwf.

jennetd, why did you remove it after only 1000 miles? I need to do my clutch and this looks like a good deal on what I was planning on anyway getting

G$993, If your not interested, I maybe...

Thanks for the continued feedback crew. I will talk to steve to see if he can hook me up with someone with the set up. If not, perhaps I need to make a trip north to one of your Seattle drives for a demonstration!

jennetd, PM sent.
