17" wheels for 993
I've done some searching around on the site but can't find out what I'd like to know. I have some 18" wheels on my '95 993 that are not OEM or even reproductions and I'd like to get some 17" turbo twists to replace them. On Ebay and in the Rennlist marketplace they are hard to find. My question is will 996, 997, or Boxster turbo twists work for me? Would it be OK if they needed spacers in order to do it or does that screw things up? The other models' wheels seem to be much more available than ones listed as coming off a 993. Thanks

The 17" turbo twists are not OEM. They are all replicas. The 17" Cup II wheels are OEM on the other hand. Targas also came with 17" Speedline 2 piece wheels.
996 (997s didn't come with 17" wheels) and Boxster 17" twists will fit without spacers. But they are not the same as the 993 turbo twists. Here are your 17" options based on what you've asked above:
Boxster/996 17" twists:
17" turbo twists (not OEM):
Cup II:
Cup I:
Targa:
Best of luck!

I have a nice set of these with center caps (not color) FS (no tires). There were on my 993 so I know they work. The are also the lightest of the OEM 17" wheels. Please PM me if interested.

i am fitting my targa with 17" boxster speedline alessios.
17 8x9 and ET50 on all. they are at the shop and i am told they'll fit fine.
perhaps a boxster twist in similar size will work for you.

Heresy, but...
Our sponsor (One of the many) Tire Rack sells Cup 4 wheels in 7 1/2" front and 9" X 17" rear. Yup they are made in China...they are JIC coded and I have heard TUV approved.
I have two (2) sets of these wheels. They have been great. with that extra 1/2 " on front, I can run 235s up front, even 245 if I feel lucky, which I do. About $700 delivered.
I just figured out why we buy cheap stuff from China....as wages have been stagnant for years, prices have been going up, along with productivity (We work hard and efficiently, effectively too). This leaves the purchasing gap, ergo, you have less real money to spend and you need cheap stuff (Hello Walmart). I am sure everyone already figured this out, but it just came to me, duh!!!!
