Spotting 993s
We all own one, but has anyone ever caught themself mesmerized when seeing another 993 on the road?
A while back, I found myself following a white 993 for miles. Just staring at that beautiful shape.
When driving the 993, it is a fun car and makes all the right noises, but it is something else seeing one driven down the road.

Also noted other cars.
911/964 - very unique and instantly recognizable 911 shape.
930 - saw a black 930... I swear this car was made to be Darth Vader's personal car. Looked soooo mean in black.
996s/997s - Meh...looks nice...but doesn't do much for me.
300SL Gullwing - restored and in silver. I swear, it is like a supermodel among the masses of ordinary car. You just don't realize how beautiful it is compared to the ordinary everyday cars.

Yup!
Literally yesterday morning on the way to work I spotted a Silver C2S and as mine's still on her way to me I sat behind the guy for miles just appreciating the curvy shape.
One more week....one more week....one more week! Ants in my pants for sure!

I must admit I look at the reflection of my car when driving past buildings with large glass windows! Also getting the car smog tested was fun to watch all four wheels turning on the dyno-thing. Like seeing it driving but not moving...

The other day I there was this guy standing on the corner photographing me in the 993. Kinda freaked me out, like "why are you taking my picture and what are you going to do with it?" But I figure it's just a Porsche fan admiring the beauty of the car.

I was walking in downtown Seattle on Third Avenue last week and while waitng to cross the street I saw from a distance an approaching silver 993. As it approached I noted the oval opening in the rear fender and immediately knew that I was about to see something pretty rare. As it drove past, the TurboS script confirmed it all! Nice to know that this guy drives around town despite the clouds and rain showers.

This red 95 had a what appeared to be a really good looking girl driving it with all the enthusiasm of a....well, an enthusiast. It had great wheels and a very aggressive stance and exhaust.
I was driving the Pathfinder...damn! Oh yeah, I'm married. There is just no reason to chase P..., any more...Porshce that is! To answer the question, yes, it is always a rare and pleasant surprise to see a 993.
Sometimes I have to do a double take.

I followed a dark red, brand new 911 yesterday on I-495 Capital Beltway for a while. It had temp tags on it and a shape I knew to of course be a 911, but wasn't too sure I totally loved it. The guy driving it was older and he was driving fairly slow as traffic was passing him right and left. He must have just bought it.
I stared at it for a while. First from behind, then from the side, and then while he was behind me. It really wasn't my cup of tea. I much prefer my dated but beautiful 993's shape. I do like the cool front lights on the new car but the rest - meh.
On the other hand, I followed a Black 2012 Mercedes Benz CLS 63 yesterday as well. WOWEE - wish I was "rich". I'd LOVE to have one for a daily driver. Didn't have a bad angle on it. Looked like this:

Yes, I don't see many in this part of "Flyover Country" but they do catch my eye. I find that mine is a head turner too even at stop lights--folks notice these cars.
Even my son, who lives in Scottsdale and sees lots of Porsches, generally shoots me a cell phone picutre or a call when he sees a 993. "Dad, drove down the street behind you today"
