A Second Bit of Air Coolness
My wife and I were talking a long time about getting a second Porsche. She loves classic cars and I wanted a car I could wrench on myself. After about a year of looking we picked up this little number.
It is a 1965 356 C. It is definitely not a concourse car; nor is it a restoration car. It really just needs to be maintained and DRIVEN. After my reading the "RS Inspired" thread and modifying my 993 I am undoubted headed down the Outlaw trail.
It is funny, this car is slower, less comfortable, and less safe then the 993; however, in it own way it is more fun. There is the driving a slow car fast aspect, but I think the simple sports focus is what makes it more fun. It makes me wonder what all the guys who say 996/7s have no soul would say about their 993s after driving her.
In the finest 993 Forum tradition here are some pictures (unfortunately, the only ones I have are while she is on the trailer for the drive home). The first photo is my brother and I with the car loaded and ready at our Mom's place in Southern Oregon (I have my foot on the trailer). The second is the was the start of our third morning in Wyoming. The last is at our new place in Kansas. The 993 is still enroute from Germany. Once she gets home I will post pictures of them together.
Enjoy,

Great car. Congratulations!! I missed something I guess.... did you buy a 993 from Germany or are you bringing your own car back?
That'll be the perfect garage. Well done.

Always wanted a 356.
Enjoy it & have fun!!!!
Great thing about the older cars, you can have a ton of fun at much lower speeds. It amazes me how much stick they have for 4-5in wide rubber!

Good story and interesting timing. Just did the same thing to help a buddy get a 356. Not quite as nice as yours, it will need some rust repair and restoration before it can be driven. Went to Portland for it, left early Friday from Sacramento and got back midnight Saturday, and not without some adventure. We thought we'd blown the rear end of his truck, oil everywhere about 50 miles into the return leg. After numerous stops to fill it up and make calls, a helpful guy from a transmission shop told us to check the vent tube, they apparently plug up, checked and cleaned it and problems solved, phew!
Congrats, looks like fun!
