First, thanks to Darin for providing insight and inspiration. I wanted to do this myself (with a little help) to free up his time to get those Wide Ovals made up for us. Please do nto take this as a hit against FDMotorsports.

After giving plenty of thought to the exhaust and enjoying the Supercup rear sections, I decided to go out on a limb and create my own.
Starting point:

Split canisters showing filler. Yum.

Taking a look at the Stock Gillette exhaust from my C2S and comparing it to the turbo muffler, I figured the best option is to simply clean up the airflow. Notice how the turbo muffler has perforated sections that provide a clean pass through when exhaust is forced (WOT) but no cross tube (possible motor sound option as the car is optioned.

Removed internals that simply “dumped” gasses into chamber and forced them out the exit tube:

New elbows and another diction of perf tube in place:


Lastly, sent them out for a complete polish. Yeah, I know they will not stay that way, but if I keep on top of it and limit the amount of rain driving, they might pick up a nice bronze/blue hue as with my previous rides.


Next up- Dyno with Supercups vs. these. I expect a raspy sound as with the Supercups, but these look closer to stock and will permit the addition of the Fister Wide Ovals!

yeap with the stock mufflers you should be fine....i actually like the way it sounds inside the car, as I have zero insulation and the mechanical noise is very much like an older 911. As for the outside, the comment my wife made when I came back home after installing them is telling: "I did not hear you come in the garage" ! LOL

Yes, I think the stock NA mufflers will probably be the most quiet. The cat bypass, of course adds to the volume as well. Cat bypass with stock cans is probably the quietest combo, I would think.

Yeap it is! mind you my little engine has the full Andial treatment so its not exactly stock That I think makes a lot of difference in the mechanical sound which intoxicating to say the least...

Care to elaborate on that? Different cams? 3.8? Inquiring minds want to know

Ha! 3.6, blueprinted, Andial massaged Mahle pistons ( knife edged etc), Carillo Rods, titanium valves and spring retainers, RS cams, RS Varioram ported and polished, lightened crankshaft, ported, polished, massaged heads and lots of different small stuff... The built sheet is over 6 pages long! LOL Its a very sweet engine and revs like the wind

Does that mean 993 turbo mufflers will fit a NA 993?

No. Not without modifying the piping. Top pic is 993 turbo, bottm pic 993 NA.

Good to know because that is exactly the sound I am looking for with my newly acquired un-modified OEM mufflers.
