Lastly should I negotiate the price? I am looking on ebay. I see a similar vehicle for 45K

For the PPI, I have been reading its hard to get a real thorough and knowledgeable one because this is an older car and mechanics may not be as familiar with the vehicle.
2. Secondly, because the belt needs to be replaced in order to be driven, will this hinder the inspection?

First, it's getting to be comical with misinformation posted. Anyone who's running a Porsche shop still has a healthy air cooled segment of the business. While Cayenne brake jobs and the myriad of issues on 996/Boxsters pay the bills, no one forgets what got him into Porsches in the first place. In most areas you could probably push even a dead 356 to the nearest Porsche shop who would be pretty knowledgeable about the cars.
Now, "the" belt. Did I miss something, or did the alternator and/or fan drive belt(s) break, and the car was parked? This is well inside the top 5 of easiest repairs on these things. In no way would it hinder a PPI, though I would have serious doubts about the seller.

These two things lead me to believe this might not be the car for you.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread! Just don't want to create a new one!
I am new to the posting. I have always been following the forum.
My questions are:
1. What is the value of a 1996 C4S with 102K miles right now? Has it gone up?
2. At 102K miles should I ask if he had a suspension upgrade? New clutch?
Thanks!
AWESOME info for a the newbies!!
P.S. It is listing for 52K

Have serious doubts about the seller?Hmm… a 4 month, a 4 year old, a wife that was in a serious car accident with the (at the time) 2 month and is forced to go to go back to work way to soon…in a cast! Uh yeah.. some people are truely busy and don't have time to mess with a belt and make priorities with family and work…not a car. That was clearly mentioned in the add and noted that would fix or neg off price.I have been very upfront with every potential buyer about this. I could have priced it mid to high fifties like the market is saying but figured i'd pass it along ..and be more than fair with new owner. Life changes reason for sale…Hopefully will be replacing with a 997 targa with a hatch for all the kiddo BS and should be easier to drop them into the seats

^^^^ Yeah, with no back story, and what we've seen going on lately.
In any case, I'm sure at the very minimum there would be 6-8 guys here who would come on over and get you fixed up with new belts if anyone knew.
