No top end rebuild. Upper and lower valve cover leak repairs, seat adjustments, wheel alignment, brake, clutch fluid flush and refill, oil and filters, plugs and plug wires (wires alone were over $500). New radio and amp.

Seats
The stock 993 seats will eat$$, have you thought of 996 seats ?
The 993 seats use those troublesome worm gears and the ***** in the side controls require removal of the dirt from the metal *****.
My full engine rebuild was $12k
Low miles Ebay 993 stock pistons + new rings $1200
996 custom seats (Ebay) $1500
PSS10 $2000
New 993 Porsche stock exhaust $1200

I haven't seen a C4S with low of miles go for low 40's. 40K? I haven't seen it. I see most going for North of 50K with 35K miles or less. Now if the Car has 60K miles, maybe. Heck, look at some dealerships, Sloan's etc. In the mid 60's for low mile C4S.

It seems that most low milage cars (< 40K miles) with no issues will sell within a few days of listing.
I had 3 bought before I could make an offer (all sold in < 4 days for > $50,000)
I finally was able to buy the last one I came across, but there were a few people ready to buy if I had no acted quick.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread! Just don't want to create a new one!
I am new to the posting. I have always been following the forum.
My questions are:
1. What is the value of a 1996 C4S with 102K miles right now? Has it gone up?
2. At 102K miles should I ask if he had a suspension upgrade? New clutch?
Thanks!
AWESOME info for a the newbies!!
P.S. It is listing for 52K

Lol!
I just talked to the owner.
1. He is the third owner
2. Upgraded suspension to PSS-10s
3. Still original clutch, with no problems
4. Up to date maintained.
5. Major service done of gaskets and seals
6. It does need a belt
7. More than willing to have PPI done
Anything I missed?

You should read this. There's a LOT of information here: http://www.jackals-forge.com/lotus/ and select: 993 Buyers Guide

For the PPI, I have been reading its hard to get a real thorough and knowledgeable one because this is an older car and mechanics may not be as familiar with the vehicle.
1. Is the best bet to ask a forum member to take a look at it? Or is there a list of preferred mechanics I can choose from?
2. Secondly, because the belt needs to be replaced in order to be driven, will this hinder the inspection?
Thanks!!
Lastly should I negotiate the price? I am looking on ebay. I see a similar vehicle for 45K
