Service Interval for distributor cap
After reading the Maintenance Requirements bulletin #9403 I was surprised that there is no replacement recommendation for the distributor cap
Also now that our cars are getting older what about the coil packs
I am replacing cap and rotor this weekend and coil packs and plugs next weekend
There is a lot of info on the plugs, does anyone know when / how often cap rotor and coil packs should be replaced

Coil packs only on failure or demonstrable degradation
Rotor/Cap is a bit harder. Every 30,000 miles is a good rule, but everyone will have a different opinion. I usually do a visual check, and if the it looks like normal but not too much wear, and the car is running right, I do not replace them. How's that for exact? :-)
Cheers,
Mike

Three Wheelin'
Every 30,000 mile service interval for me - I change both distributor caps and rotors (as well as other stuff of course, which I won't go into here coz it'll only muddy the waters.)
At my NEXT 'major' service (60,000 miles) which at the rate I'm going will be in about 2 years I already have a new distributor BELT ready too!

Cap terminals and rotor tips usually show little burn marks that can be cleaned.
Put a few drops of oil under the small felt inside the top of the shafts.
New belt is not much of a problem but................the special angular contact bearings are much more of a concern and NLA.
