Yes. Ideal voltage is 1.7 volts, and if you tape two new AA batteries, you should be at around 1.6x volts, even lower will do, instead of plating it manually, let the duracells do it !!!!

Well done, li looks so simple but I expect it will tarnish like all silver does, could it/should it be lacquered like you do with brass or copper?

Mine did tarnish...... after 4 years left alone.
I fell on a silver polish glove at home, embedded with silver polish.
I borrowed it for a minute last summer, rubbed the crest on the hood for 5 seconds, shines like a mirror.
(I returned the glove where I found it, my dear...)
If you don't touch it by hand, just soap and water, it will last long.

No need to offer 800 for 30 minutes, anyway I do not have one or sell neither
