Default RS Trunk look complete

Back when I had my '84 Carrera I went crazy stripping out the trunk carpet and detailing everything. I kind of missed the cleaner look and figured that over my extended break I'd try and recreate it a bit on the 993. While not as impressive visually it's perhaps a bit more functional with the RS tank and fluid level sensor.

Some pics of then and now

Looks great! My RSA had a similar trunk carpet, I think the PO made it.

Looks great!

I just hate the clips on the frunk carpet that are towards the front. I would probably remove that part entirely and make a CF bottom piece wrapped in OEM carpet

I love the look in the 84 but not so much in our cars.

Yeah the wheel for the spare on the '84 and the flashy triangulated strut brace make for a really nice look. I also painted the places the factory didn't get on my '84 but I'm not sure I want to take the time to do that on the 993. But hey I dropped a bit of weight with the deletion of the standard washer tank and it signals the start of my commitment to give it the RS look.

Yeah, now THAT's a clean trunk!

I think what throws it off, and what looks great on your '84, is the paint. Given the factory cheaps out on the paint in the truck on the 993, it does not have that finished look - but if you shoot the trunk in the correct color, I think the 993 will look great!

Cheers,

Mike

Some people might think that completing the paint that Porsche chose to leave unpainted might effect the cars authenticity or originality, but that is one clean trunk!!

You guys suck!

Now I'll have to paint the trunk. It was likely harder to do on the '84 but it will still be a masking tape tour de force.....Add another task to the to do list.....

The factory didn't fully finish the paint in the trunk of any year 911. That '84 had its trunk painted by an owner. And yes it does look fantastic!

Another thing I've never seen in any year 911... a space-saver tire with a Fuchs rim! Classy!

Yep I painted the trunk and did the wheel in the '84.

The '84 was a great car. I got it cheap and did some tasteful upgrades, M&K exhaust, sport seats, color keyed the wheel centers to match the stripes I added, new shocks etc. I wound up selling it to a fellow Pelican in Canada to fund my slantnose 930. He has since passed it on to another owner as the track day bug bit him hard. Here are a couple of pics he sent me before it traded hands again. This car was proof that going through several owners isn't necessarily a bad thing like the forums would always have you believe. As nice as this car was the slant is way nicer....

That's a beautiful '84, needless to say I like the script. Don't know if I've seen that color before, mind me asking what it's called?

Kiln Red. Just a two year color IIRC.
