Squeeze top and bottom and it comes off (there are a pair of tabs holding the grille and the speaker is actually glued to the grille o the inside).

I found some rust under the windshield rubber a week ago. This morning they called from the work shop at Volvo/Toyota ( I work as a salesman here) and told me that a new windshield and rubber seal arrived. So I will put in the driver seat and drive down the car this evening. They will pop the glass…….then we know how much work there are…..Paint shop is booked.
I have the seats left to dye. The carpet set will arrive next week, so hopefully the car is back then!

Turned out that I have to wait one or two days for the glass man to do the windshield job….so I attacked the steering wheel and the rest of the panels that has to be painted. I was a little nervous with the airbag, but without any battery…I felt safe. When the steering wheel was out, I could also pop the RPM meter (what is it called?) On the pictures you can see that it´s quit clean inside now. I will paint inside tomorrow with the airbrush. The steering wheel and the air bag got their hand dye dabbing, and are also going to have their cheer part of airbrushing tomorrow.

-First a warning with the dye process……I felt a little seasick with a small headache this morning, and I am never sick!
When I sneezed my nose ….what came out was Porsche black!! Please wear protection and vent the area very well…
I gave the interior a layer today with the airbrush, and it became very black and looked as new. Also the hand dabbed steering wheel and airbag got “blowed”

Could you take a close-up shot of the threads on the steering wheel? I'm curious to see how they took to the dye, as well as if there is any "webbing," so to speak, between the threads and the leather. Great job!

I second that.. I have a grey 996 three spoke airbag that wanted to dye black. Want to make sure I do it right!

Great job amd even better thread! Thanks for the pics, this will help many of us today and down the line.

Thank you again for sharing!

To those of you that will dye anything in your car….there is a much better result with an airbrush. I highly recommend first layer by hand dabbing, and the last 1-2 layer with an airbrush. You can find good and cheap airbrushes with hose and aerosol cans instead of an compressor.
Here are some close up on the stitching and the Porsche “waffen”
Could anyone help me with the picture of the backside of the “watch”. At the yellow marking, a cable came loose that I have to solder back….any clues before I put hours to follow it and find out…..

Yiipppie....the postman showed up today with a big box from Lakewell. here are some pictures of what was in it. Quality is very good. I think you can see where some of the pieces will go. I told my boss I´m off tomorrow, and the wife is at work....so give me a thought tomorrow when I´m in carpeting heaven...and one more thing..... they smell brand new, not like the 14 year old dirty carpets I rip out of the car

If I look closely - did you get the carpets for the door panels aswell?

japp... that's the ones with the white strips (backside of the vinyl). They are the trickiest ones to fit. You need all the washing clamps you can find at home while the glue sets properly.
