OBD2 reader for Mac

OBD2 reader for Mac
Does anyone know of a simple (aka not too expensive) OBD2 reader that plugs into a Mac (MacBook or iPad)? I have a 1997 Targa 993 and I would like to be able to read the codes status--I'm having problems with California smog inspection.

A couple of my T-OBD customers are running the free Scantool windows software in a virtual windows XP environment using VMWare. They have both reported that there were no problems getting the FTDI win drivers to work with the USB adapter.

VMWare Fusion or Desktop Parallels or Boot Camp.
I have done this with XP on my Mac (not a fan of Vista or 7, so XP is as far as I will go with Windows).

Remember, off-the-shelf OBDII reader sw or hw can only connect the DME engine control unit in our cars, not the CCU, ABS, air bag or Tiptronic control units.

In theory if you know the ECU id it can be queried, most scanners give the cmd line option
of course this require some little digging but it is out there. Some of the ABS, air-bag ,etc is
available on the CAN bus. Some guys even managed to use a car scanner on BMW bikes with
an iphone app.
But there is software for the mac out there free and for a price, most of the interfaces are bluetooth now ... for the iphone they use wifi since Apple put a lock on the BT in iPhone as per the late Steve
