Default Best way to attach steering wheel crest

Morning gents,

now I know the crest will likely end up in my forehead anyway when I run into something and the airbag deploys, but nevertheless I've purchased one and am trying to find out the best way to attach it.

I got the 356 badge with the pin, which will be ground down, and the gentle slope of the badge flattened.

At that point, should I be using a hot glue gun, silicone adhesive, etc? Its going on a vinyl flat airbag cover (raid, fvd whatever).

Thanks.

I did this with my steering wheel - used a 356 hood crest, ground off the pins, flattened it a little, and just superglued it over the embossed crest. I didn't envision removing it so I wasn't concerned with using superglue. Did it years ago and it's still securely attached. If you don't want to superglue it, I would think some silicone adhesive would work fine.

Don't worry, it won't end up in your forehead if your airbad deploys. The cover pops out of the way for the bag .

Cheers.

My steering wheel cover had an emmbossed (indented) crest molded into the plastic. It was almost exactly the same size as the 356 hood crest, so I just put it over the indented embossed crest.

Hey Oliver.... I used a hot glue gun and used just a small dab of glue. It held well for several years of use. When I sold the wheel I popped the crest off and the glue peeled off without leaving anything behind.

This will also be an advantage to the ER doc that has to pull it from your thick skull.

well, the permatex was a big bust. Went the hot glue gun...took two tries. Worked ok the second time, but I'm not sure its going to stay on there.

My experience with hot glue on vinyl is that it doesn't hold well. It will pop off sooner or later, especially if the temp is below freezing. So just I superglued mine. 2 years no issues.
(And yes, that is a silver crest. Anybody know if it's factory??? )

Dammit I'm batting zero...went back to check and the thing fell off at the slightest touch...I don't get why nothing sticks here.

What kinda superglue are you all using

Quad you need to prep the **** out of the spot with rubbing alcohol or acetone, and maybe even scuff up the area underneath *as much as I hate to say it) if you are having problems. The one in my cab was held on with emblem adhesive (same stuff I use for the rear emblems outside car. I believe it is a 3M emblem adhesive.

Hmm I used rubbing alcohol.

Frustrating for such a simple thing

The kind they had at a Midtown deli. Any "super glue," "krazy glue," etc. instant bonding agent will do the trick.
