For the Canepa conversions, he does a LOT more than paperwork, but the cars currently have to comply with 1987 smog reg's so they have to have catalytic's made and fitted but he also takes off the heavy and problem prone 'self-leveling' suspension system and upgrades the turbo's and brakes. Not sure about specifics .. just what I've heard and read. But yes, theoretically, starting in 2013-14 the 1988 models should be able to be imported and I call shotgun right here and now, Jason ... well ... er ... maybe the back seat ... sorry Daisy ..

The strangest thing is that, that is not the case here. Not too many old cars cruising around and the newer modified stuff runs pretty clean. We used to have emissions testing but they stopped it after the state realized that it was feeding corruption. Reg your car here and never worry about safety or emissions...

And a LOT more, like a different ECM which is one of the major mods,
if not the most significant to achieve emissions compliance.

Yep, I've heard the car's are a bit quicker after Canepa's finished with them as well ... which would help justify all of it to ... whomever you need

My friend Vinnie (the one that was driving our Ford Focus support vehicle!) has a 1991 964 Turbo Euro. It is reg'd as a 1991 Porsche in the great State of Florida...

Its a real deal Euro car that was "converted" yet it carries its original VIN. Look at the headlight height adjuster finger wheel next to the headlight switch, the extra driving light pull switch in the center of the dashboard for the rear fog lights and the euro bumpers among many other things...

Wow. Beautiful color! So, Florida DMV thinks it's a '91 U.S. 'Turbo look' Carrera?

"I've heard the car's are a bit quicker after Canepa's finished with them as well"

Right, because he increases the boost much higher than a stock Porsche setup.
