Define Exotic

Okay, how about the 2011 GT2 RS?
Top speed above 200 mph, it's not affordable to the majority of us, they only made 500 and it's not really practical to drive everyday. Well, I guess if you could afford to buy one you could drive it every day.
In my opinion the GT2 RS is an exotic supercar. So is the 993 GT2. I have seen lots of Ferarri's and Porsches but have never seen a real 993 GT2.

Hmm...I'm blessed. I have seen 959s, real 993 GT2 (Jochen's specimen) and a REAL exotic: Ruf CTR-3. All my humble opinion of course.
Well, my Ruf BTR, only 35 or so in the whole world. Is that an exotic?
BTW, I'd consider a BMW M1 an exotic.

Not to get too much off topic or hjack the thread but the pic of the NSX made me want to ask you guys this question....How does this board feel about them? They always catch my eye when I see one. I LOVE the idea that it is Honda reliability and from what I know about them, they were technologically ahead of their time. So any opinions, I will start another thread if I have to.

You need to get out more, Ollie. A short drive to Blauvelt, NY last year would have given you view of another 959, a REAL Rohr Racing GT2 Evo (not the black street version Jochen had Andial build and then sold), a street legal 993 GT1 and various other examples of this and that, none of which might have met your "extremely hight standards" of exoticness.
Expand your horizons my man. You might actually learn something in the process.
Or just buy the bloody brown/beige/taupe "G" and be gone.

I find it interesting that nobody has brought up performance benchmarks. In 1996 a 993 turbo car was in the supercar category due to the standards of that time for sport's cars and what it could do. So for me performance, production numbers, price and where that car's design fell as pertains to what was being produced in that time. I think benchmark during that time is what dictates what is considered an exotic. The 959 was an exotic any way you look at it. A plain 911 or 911 turbo regardles of year, most likely not.

I think "classic" is a more appropo term for 993's than "exotic"....Kinda like Elizabeth Taylor versus Sophia Loren (You younger whippersnappers will have to Google those two names to see what I'm talkin' about).

Any older "exotic" or "supercar" from 1996 may be termed classic which would be apropos unless the current date fell within that actual time frame. I suppose we could get into a long silly discussion on whether a 20 year old supercar or exotic currently falls into that category, but I think it goes without saying that a 15 year old car will not be within the same standards as a 2012 car. But that does not take away from that car's reputation or history.
