Default UPDATE: Feel My Joy/Feel My Pain--with pics!

Greetings All--
In preparation for attending Rennsport IV next week, I have been actively performing mods to my new-to-me '96 cab (as described in a previous post): FD-Rothsport Short Shifter and Golden Rod; Fister Stage III's; Technology 18" Hollow Twists; Rennline Race Pedals, etc.

The first pic shows my new RUF-inspired front bumper from BetterBodiesMotorSports (and TK side rockers), which I just picked up from the auto body shop yesterday. This is the Joy part...I think it makes the front look waaaay more aggressive and sporty.

The Pain part is when I was filling up at the gas station on the drive home, I noticed they tore my top somehow (see pics 2 and 3)! What a buzz kill, let me tell you.

I immediately called the owner, and he indicates he will make it right (despite suggesting it may have been like that when I brought it in. Ha! I now know every inch of that car, and there is NO WAY!). So...we shall see. I will gladly share the name of this San Diego area shop if they do in fact "make it right." Might also share the name if they don't!

This will now delay my ability to get the suspension improved next week...so, no teasing about SUV height in Monterey, please!

IMO, took aggressive for me.

Thats a real shame about the hood. I hope you get it put right without too much stress, one way or another.

Thumbs up

Oh, we will tease you. It's more than just a sport here. Some have elevated it to a art. Sad about your Cab's top. If you're headed up Thursday, we'll be flying low.......... look for us.

If I remember correctly, there are elastic straps that assist the top in folding correctly when closing.
If the straps are wore out, which they do; that is what happens.

I would have a hard time understanding how that would be your body shops negligence.
I'm not a forensic expert but it doesn't look punctured by an object from the outside.

BTW: love the mods, car is looking good!!

Not a problem, just drive with top down!

Really, that sucks, I hope it all gets sorted out.

Gotta agree with Calvin. That looks more like an age/stress related tear. How old is the top. Is it normally stored down or up?

Sorry, guys...practically new in terms of usage: previous owner died shortly after new top installed...and car garaged--with top up--thereafter. Unfortunately, one of the shop guys must have placed something heavy on top of car, or swung something around that cut the top...not sure how it happened--but definitely was not brought in like that...

UPDATE:

Well, I am happy to say autobody shop owner is a class act: provided for the replacement of the top. I can now share that the shop was Marlo's Auto Specialties in National City (just south of downtown San Diego), CA.

Incidentally, I was pleased to provide a recommendation this morning to a neighbor with a BMW needing some paint work. So, good long-term view taken by owner of Marlo's...

Wow you are lucky to get that "on the house".
How come you did not select a black top instead?

Car's interior is Midnight Blue...so, it goes with the blue top. Also, in certain light, the Polar Silver really has some blues in it, and works with the top color.

You know, I think it's that the camera phone pic used a flash...in person, the blues seem the same to me...

Thanks for comments.
