I don't know, take a look at porschefinder.net not a lot of C2S's on the market right now. This car is pristine with most of the mechanical items refreshed. I have to think 40k is low, I would say 43-44k IMHO....

Dont get me wrong I love my 993, and the 13 year old son loves it even more than i do. But the first car i bought when i earned a little money was a 58 a coupe and there is something to be said about your first love whether it be women or cars.
On the other hand the 993 is a lot of fun
and hands down faster more responsive safer, etc, etc than the antique ride and handling of the 356

I think low to mid-40's is reasonable for your car...mine, on the other hand, has 100,650 miles on it (and gaining fast - yay!), so I know it will never achieve those prices again.

I'm looking to add a 356 and keep the C2S. Would be a great pair of cars to own. You have a great example of a '98 C2S there, it should easily fetch $40K from an enthusiast. Any tire kickers pushing you down in price saying the mileage is too high & worried about the service costs probably shouldn't own a 993. Good luck with the sale!

Mid 40s, not less. The year, the color combo, no paintwork (bumpers dont count), mechanically perfect? Sure, someone will need to do the top end eventually and other stuff. But this is the equivalent of the 73RS in silver/black combo. NOW - yes, I understand all the reasons that this is not a 73RS, so let's not start a debate here, but my point is that a 1998 Carrera S will always be the last rear wheel air cool Porsche, period. I think this car should bring $43-45k for the right buyer.

Thanks for all your comments. As someone who has owned a number of Porsches including a 58, 63 73 89 as well as a 1996 c4s and 997, I do think there is something special about the 1998 c2s.
Maybe I will just keep it and add an 356 A coupe as it's stable mate.
I'm sure mr Sullivan will agree with me - it is getting harder to find well sorted/no history 993s

Clean car; 77K miles = $40K
