From my understanding of Not Acutal Miles...doesnt it mean that the ODOMETER was replaced and the New/used one had 39,000 miles.

So the calculation for milage would be the unknow milage for the ifrst 15 years of its life+20,000 documented milage.

Is it cheap enough to gamble? The Dealer obviously knows what it has and priced it accordingly.

Or one of Spartan's friends buys it, and turns it into a track monster!
Or just save yourself the hassle and buy a $60K turbo with no issues.

As for buying this TT -

If the 993tt catnip has taken hold, why not speak to the sellers vibe of short selling this inventory? Make a low-ball offer which both parties can agree and then enjoy driving the car until something requires service. Use AAA roadside assistance as a back/stop loss.... I'm just saying LoL.

Boy I was thinking about this 93tt again...

What if you cut a deal with where RUF of Dallas warrantied the drive train? I mean,,, give'em what they want, take their low price catnip and let'em share in the risk of this orphaned, 7 previous owner sports car. Put $40k something on the table and gimme the 993tt with a 6mo/6K mile drive/train warranty good only at RUF Dallas,,,, and burn rubber with full boost. Nothing new to this car.....

You know RUF isn't into this $ heavy and in case they are cutting their loss looks pretty good in this slow market.

Any warranty is only as good as the person giving it, right? That's why we are waiting for some word from our sponsor (RAC in this case) explaining what's going on.

Of course they don't own us any explanations. But it would be awfully nice of their business to do so.

Guess its in situations like this that I have to admit to myself I'm not a betting man. Not sure at what point I'd feel comfortable knowing that if the worse happened I wouldn't be upside down if the engine had to be dropped and rebuilt. What does a complete engine R&R cost? $15-20K?
With its history this example isn't one that people will be clambering over each other to buy. Its always going to be a risky proposition moving forward.

I'm not either, and I did 2 critical things (to me) prior to buying my Turbo 2 years ago:

1) Made sure I knew a highly qualified air-cooled Porsche indy mechanic in the Chicago area to do my work and maintenance (Fischer Motors)

2) Had a cash slush fund of $15,000 sitting in a low interest bank account for that dreaded WTF day! Cash is still sitting there

After I had #1 and #2 in order, I was full guns on my quest and purchase.

I did not want to be Porsche Turbo rich, and cash poor.

Car is 4hours from me (I am in Houston), I called RUF Auto Center twice and have had no luck with reaching anyone who can assist me with more details on the car. Interested if it checks out.
