Default OT: what do I do in Monterey this week?

Great timing, I'm in Monterey today and tomorrow. Anything cool to do? Are any of the cars still here? (918, GT3Hybrid?) My sweet rental is a Corolla "S" with a push button start, of course...

Good to see you're hard at "work" and glad you sprung for the "S" Corolla.

Take a drive down 17 Mile Drive, play 18 holes at Pebble, find a cool outdoor restaurant on Ocean Ave in Carmel, Monterey Aquarium is world class, ocean kayak with the sea otters, check out Laguna Seca.

+ 1 on the Monterey Aquarium.

Take the 17 mile drive thru Pebble Beach.

Hit Spanish Bay GC for lunch in the "Sticks" bar. Sit at the bar and have a burger, the view is really tough to beat.

Go a tiny bit south on HWY 1 to the Highland's Inn, have a drink and marvel at that view, too.

Head back into Carmel and have a good cigar, outdoors, fireside at the Hog's Breath Inn.

Someone has to, right? Seriously, even if you don't have the kids with you, the aquarium is worth seeing.

Mediterranean Market for great cheese/meat selection and to see their massive guillotine cheese cutter, Hector de Smit Bakery for the Izod alligator bread with pink/green eyes (if it's still there), both on Ocean Avenue in Carmel, Katy's Place on Mission/6th (JNO Ocean) in Carmel for incredible eggs benedict, Gianni's Pizza on Lighthouse in Pacific Grove for great pizza/cold beer.

Drive down Highway 1 or into Carmel Valley is nice, even in a rental car.

+ Aquarium, and the restaurant there, in the back section with table clothes, used to be nice--it's been a while since I ate there.

Took Brian's advice. Holy crap! I absolutely have to find a way to drive Laguna Seca now. The Corkscrew is insane!

Sadly, until you've driven it one time. Now from there on out through 9 and 10 are intense. And if you happened to follow the remains of 2 at the hairpin where it connects up to 5, then you'll know what Old School Laguna was all about. 4 (now 6) also took ***** before they neutered it.
