It's bigger and more boring...the rear just doesnt look right with the crease straight across the back...

I like the front and the interior but something's not right with the back. It has weird bending decklid lines going down the back that look strange from the side.

I like the continued evolution of Porsche design. The classic lines are still there and will likely be a great performer with 2012 technologies. A 991 GT3 will be born soon.

Pretty much my take as well .... good all the way back to the B-pillar: loses definition at that point on rearwards in silhouette view.

Awesome daily if I had the cash. But if I did I would take the 997 Targa4.

Nothing as changed - you either like it or hate it! I still take it but I also stick to my 993.

I love the interior of my Cayenne, and the comfort and ride make hours seem like minutes. When I get a chance to drive my 993, I love the interior and ride more and more due to the simplicity and rawness. It's an analog car in a digital world.

The new 911 is a logical evolution, but if I were shopping I would consider a welll cared for 997.

Its the same thing every time a new 911 comes out. Owners of older cars hate it for the first few years, then end up driving it and realizing its a fantastic car. Just about every 997 owner says the thing is hideous, yet it looks pretty much exactly like a 997.

Also, I'd argue that the 911 has not been a pure sports car since the late 80s.

A 993 is a 3000+ lb car with power steering, abs, heated seats, automatic climate control, power windows, power brakes, etc.

While it is smaller, simpler, and more intimate, its already a bit of a GT car.

OK, OK, I read the blurb and clicked on all the pix.

Didn't so much as even make my heart beat a smidge faster or cause me to take a deeper breath.

The first thing that popped into my mind was Audi R8 with 'those lights' and, overall, like so many people on this earth, looks like someone who put on a little weight but who is trying to hide it by taking cues of how to camouflage it/cover it up - from watching that show "What not to wear".

The car does look low and plump -- like a Cayman after gorging on a sumptuous Thanksgiving dinner.

Fellas, fellas, we are so effing lucky to own 993's.

The look of the base car is plain/boring/blah. However, by the time the GTx version come out with the spoilers, skirts, etc., I am sure it'll look HOT!!!

That's the way Porsche has done business for years. Gotta keep the buyers interested & upgrading.
