More like older Targas?
No wonderfully-big, sliding glass roof.

Caught cold-weather testing this week in 9Magazine.com's "SPIED: New Porsche 911 Targa:"

Engineers from Stuttgart have been busy this week, putting the new 911 Targa, and Turbo, through their cold-weather tests. We’ve spied two prototypes of the new Porsche 911 Targa winter testing in a big test group in swedish lapland. Both Targa prototypes appear to have different engine variations.

Porsche has the Targa prototypes camouflaged to look like a regular 911 convertible prototype, but a closer look at the roof reveals that is not the case. In the photos the “hoop” roll bar is clearly visible.

Not only does this signal a Targa roof, but it also shows that Porsche is going back to its’ original Targa roots. While the previous 911 Targa had a simple, retractable glass roof, the 2014 Targa will feature a roof panel that lifts completely off. This is a roof setup we’ve not seen from Porsche since the 964 model.

Rumors also suggest the Targa “hoop” may come finished in brushed aluminum. The new 911 Targa is expected to be unveiled later this year as a 2014 model.
