As historic as that route is, I would recommend an alternative as Hwy 46 is currently undergoing a major widening project. In fact, I drove that route in late July from here (Monterey Bay area) to SoCal and sat in construction traffic for more than an hour. I suggest you stay on Hwy 5 north for another 35 miles or so past Hwy 46 to Hwy 198. Watch the signs - they will get you off on Jayne Ave to 198 west, taking you through the town of Coalinga. Or if it's lunch time, stay on Hwy 5 north a little while longer to Hwy 198 and have a steak at Harris Ranch before heading west on 198. Hwy 198 is a beautiful two lane road with very little traffic and some wonderful scenery in the middle of nowhere that gets you to Hwy 101 just south of King City. Lots of fun corners and plenty of opportunities to pass slower cars. Drive at a brisk but reasonable speed - it's a road you can have a blast on without having to drive too fast. All in all, it's a little longer(maybe 20 minutes) but much more fun without the construction of 46.

BTW, I just realized I never posted that I will be at Rennsport - I'm there all three days as well as Baja Cantina tomorrow with some R Gruppe buddies from Orange County. I'll be looking for some familiar faces at noon on Friday

As we get close to the event, could someone (JoAnne maybe??? since she seems to be in charge, which I don't mind at all by the way) post where the "let's meet here . . ." events will be? An official unofficial Rennlist agenda? I'd like to drop in on a Rennlist 993 gathering if possible, but am still not sure when I will get down to Monterey.

I do plan on going to the event at Quail on Sunday.

That has been the case for many months. At least it wasn't closed, and it doesn't change the view!

Could be a much longer drive than 46. I'll roll-the-dice on 46.

How did you guys get the corral parking pass? Does anyone have a extra or one they are not going to use?

I'll be wearing some kind of 993 shirt, so don't be afraid to say Hi!

that's all you need...a little white out and a sharpie, and wala! you have a custom speedster Pcar rennlist name tag..Very limited quantities, just 1 0f 30..er 31 if you made one too.

Many of you fine folks are enroute, already there, or leaving soon...JoAnne has the "original" style Rennlist Pcar name tags...although I question if I sent her enough. Both Jager and JPP have the "special" version's naturally.

Ken-race911, has a handful of the silver exterior rennlist Pcar decals, Jager and JPP have some "special" stickers naturally. The exterior works great for you more **** types that will scrape them off immediately after the weekend...don't forget that pesky adhesive residue too.

Anyway, just wanted to wish you all a safe and memorable weekend.

Enjoy. I'll be there next year.

Hey Chuck.... You'll be there in our hearts! I plan on taking a lot of photos and will post them when I get back. Jager's and John Pauls cars will be "special" attention.

We made it into Monterey a couple of hours ago. The Baja Cantina doesn't have a table available until 8:30 PM so we will probably find a place to eat a little earlier.

Hopefully we will meet a lot of fellow RL'ers at the Biergarten on Friday. With as many people coming to this event as they expect even that may not be easy.
