New Guy to 993 Forum Posts Pics!
Fellow Rennlisters...
Moving over from the 997 board...and so excited to share pics of my new-to-me, one-owner, Polar Silver/Midnight Blue '96 Cab. Bone stock. 52K miles. However, both feet firmly planted on the Slippery Slope (as you'll see).
Did a DIY paint restoration project over the weekend: stripping, claying, and various Zaino layers. Came out beautiful. Smooth as silk...
Now, before you recoil at the SUV height--be advised it's on the list. In fact, here a few items already ordered: FDM/Rothsport Short Shift Kit (silver); FDM GoldenRod; Fister Stage III's in Cermachrome; chrome tips; Rennline 4-pc pedal set; aluminum interior door handle set; aluminum E-Break handle; and aluminum gauge bezels (see a theme? I think the aluminum accents will jazz up the all-blue interior, and give it an even sportier feel). Currently researching wheel/tire options--I want to go up to 18's. Also, new front bumper is a must...I just need something that presents a more aggressive/sporty face. By the way--big Shout-Out to Darin at FDM. He's been a huge help...no surprise to you long-timers.
Car background: bought from the widow of a friend of mine who passed a few years back...so, I've known of the car for years. I like that I can continue to care for the car in a way he'd be proud (not sure about all the mods I have in mind, though!). As his son told me today, "Glad the car went to a home where it would be loved."
Sold my 997 just about 16 months ago...and realized how much I missed the time I spent with my son (now, 10) just cruising around Southern California, introducing him to rock n' roll bands like AC/DC, Led Zep, Springsteen, etc. and loving our time together. So, by acquiring this little beauty, we're back in car heaven. Taught him how to clay a car on Saturday...no video games, no distractions--just a father and son enjoying something together. There really is...no substitute.
This...post...is...meaningless...without...pictures!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you to a wonderful community that has given selflessly to assist newbies like me...I can't wait to meet many of you at Rennsport Reunion IV in October. And of course, I'll be there with my son.

I was planning on getting a 997 but chose a 993 instead and could not be any happier. Planning on HD and ROW M033.
Check out BBS RS-GT in diamond black and front splitters for the bumper.
Great story by the way.

We are putting together your parts list as we speak. Should begin shipping this week.

Thanks one-and-all for feedback and welcome, so far...much appreciated.
Jon Paul and Chuck: can you envision Hollow Twists on my ride?! I'm exploring the possibility with Jimbo3's offering from San Antonio (though, he's hoping to sell locally). Another R-lister contacted me today with some other interesting options, so the wheel pursuit is heating up!
Oh, another DIY I really want to explore is LED's for the gauges at night. The existing lights are one of the few things that remind me it's a 15-year old car. Oh, and need to do HID's, too.
