Is the Bend-pak MD-6XP still the one to get? or is there something better these day?
Or maybe someone has a used one for sale, I want to buy one this week.
TIA Roger

There is one here in KC for sale. $900 I think is what he is down to. Not sure if he is willing to ship though. I use mine professionally, and it has held up well. Modified the rear bar to be removable if you need to drop a motor out.

The MaxJax mid rise two post lift is one to look at as well. You can leave one side in place all the time near the wall and remove the other post when not in use and still have a normal garage floor. I'm seriously considering the MaxJax over the BP when the time comes.

Thanx Doc I enjoyed your write up on the BP with the rear bar bolted in, fantastic!
2 car garage and the Max Jack would make it 1 1/2 need the room so the BP seems to be the best option.
Thanx Roger

I love my BP. Got plenty of use this weekend, and I've got a shock/spring changeout coming up soon. I can't imagine not having it. I'm going on 7 years now with it-still the best tool I've ever bought, and pretty easy to work into about any garage.

Please elaborate. I have a bendpak midrise... absolutely love the lift. I've been told that you can just saw off the rear cross bar to allow full drop of the engine/tranny. Not sure to what you are referring with the "rear bar bolted in". Interested to hear how many have actually sawed off the bar and whether there are any structural integrity issues with doing this.

I've done a few engine drops in 911's with my BP. It only has required a little attention to car placement, but never was a problem. I can't imagine the 993 is that much different? I'll have to put it back on the lift and look at this a bit closer.

I've been very happy with my Maxjax - very solid, I had my car up in the air for 3 months while I worked at a snails pace cleaning and doing my suspension and brakes. There are pros and cons to both scissor lifts and Maxjax lifts, but as far as mid-rise lifts go, I don't think you can beat the Maxjax for under car access. FWIW I bought mine through a rennlist group buy and got it for $1800 delivered, and from what I understood at the time, they were very open to group buys and I think it only took 5 people to get that price.
