Default basket handle delete

Has anyone done a basket handle delete on a 95?
I have the dreaded rear window rust issue and I am dropping off my car for the repair in two weeks. I figure if the car is being painted I could buy the 96
3rd brake light and delete the basket handle as a while you were there fix.
thanks,
Ben

I think many RLs have done just that with their basket handle. the search feature might yield some details. I like mine and cabs don't really have an easy alternative!

It creates more downforce- that's why 95's are faster

You might want to consider purchasing and painting a replacement deck lid and retaining the cars original. You can switch the spoiler assemblies over pretty easily. I've seen '96 and up bare deck lids priced pretty low. You're going to be doing paint work anyway.

+1...get a ducktail for it. Or a turbo if you are in texas where the temperature is over 100... It helps with the cooling.

You can always go to lowes and buy some plugs and paint them yourself. It looks good from 5 ft away.

He's 1/2 correct. Mr. Graham and I performed an experiment early today. He brought his basket-handle equipped 95, I brought my non-basket/V-ram 97.

As we approached 260+ KMH, it became apparent that Mr. G's ride was much more stable than mine, confirming the "downforce" theory (I'd call it more of a lift-reduction). My car redeemed itself by displaying a substantial power advantage and pulled rapidly away from the underpowered 95.

Come on, you drove your car?

I to have wondered if it does direct any air over the spoiler.

As we approached 260+ KMH,
Now where the heck can you find a stretch of road in BC that will allow you to go that fast without the fear of getting thrown into the slammer
