Where does this go?
Fitting ignition leads tonight, and took the blower assembly off the left side of the engine, to find that the other end of the pipe circled in the picture was just hanging loose...it has a small oval connector, so looks like it should plug into a small oval hole somewhere.....but can I find it?? err....no....

did a search and it appears you are correct. Now here's the thing - I thought all 933's had the vent kit as standard (it was a TB retrofit on my 964), but looking at the distributor, I can see an oval indentation in the ditributor body wherer the hose should go - but it is blocked off - like you would have to knock the metal tab out to make the opening for the hose to fit. What's that all about?

Sounds like at some point in the cars life the distributor has been replaced with one from a 964 without the vent.if that is the case you will need to buy the vent kit to be able to add the vent pipe

I've never seen on blocked off before. What's on the other end of the hose? What looks like a block-off might be the plug that belongs on the hose and pulled off.

993 602 121 00 "breather pipe" is the black fitting that should be in the primary distributor (the one closest to the fan hsg.) If it's not there, then someone has switched distributors and forgot to swap out the fitting. You should be able to pry off the block-off plate and snap in the fitting.

The distributor nearest the engine driven cooling fan is the one driven by the engine. I always called it the primary distributor because it is driven by the engine and then drives the secondary distributor via the toothed belt.
That vent hole should he under the electrical connection on the distributor.

OK I think we are talking about the same thing - the blanked off hole I see is on the right hand of the two distributors as you look into the engine bay from the back - nearest the Engine Fan housing - thats's the primary. This hole is on the 'back' of that distributor - towards the rear of the car. Still puzzles me why it is blanked off...
