Frozen belt tensioner

Frozen belt tensioner
So lately with the AC on or when the RPMs drop low I have been getting an awful screaching noise. It only happened on downshifts and some other random times. I thought it was the A/C compressor going until I checked the belt tensioner. It was almost frozen solid to the point that the surface had melted plastic marks where it wasn't spinning on the belt. The belt now has a mark on one side where the fozen wheel was. Thought I would share with anyone having screaching issues!
Do you guys think I should go ahead and replace the belt out of the possibility the non-spinning wheel might have weakened it?

That belt sensor is for the cooling fan belt. If that belt goes, a light on the dash comes on.
Replace both the cooling fan belt and the sensor. Then keep an extra cooling fan belt in the car.
In fact, I would replace all three belts and be done with it for a while. I'd also keep a spare alternator belt in the car. Ask me why.
On-board spares.
A/C Locknut mod.

Mine just broke on my C4, picked up a new one from FD Motorsports for a great price. It takes about 3 min to change out.
What you can do is remove it, or put a zip tie on the arm till you fix it.
