Yes, and a little unnerving knowing that many body shops NEVER replace any of it when they do repairs ..... at least we know what to ask when interviewing people now ....

Friday night walkaround revealed a fully undercoated Speedster shell. Water based spray sealer goes on green and dries grey, so left to harden over the weekend means it will be starting to see paint this week.

Finally Phil fits the rubber grommets into the front chassis legs and brushes more sealer over them. The front section of the boot floor is spray sealered to replicate the factory treatment.

It's always interesting to me to see all the 'vestigial' holes that have been left in the factory stampings, like the old speaker hole in the top of the dash metal, from previous 911 models that are just left there because there's no reason to change them .. less metal, lighter car ... I bet there's lots of other less obvious ones all over the chassis ...

So with a bit of luck Arpad, you should be driving away no later than the 1st May 2012!!
Merry Xmas
Graham
Hi Arpad,

so how are wew looking with Graham's prediction of a May roll out?

Pity about your colour choice, though. Would have loved to see the first proper 993 Speedster in Speed Gelb.

Oh well, I might have to have one build myself, then.

Best regards from Down Under

Marty

Block sand the external panels in preparation for a second coat of primer.

Back in the booth for a second coat of primer on the now-flat external panels, plus first coat of primer over all the sealer and other surfaces.

Once baked, the external panels are then fully bag masked & sealed to protect them from any overspray.

Phil can now give the internal and floor primer a once-over flat & skotch before the actual finish paint is applied. Should be white by the end of the week RP!
