Default Retrofit a cruise control for a 993 turbo?

Hey

I'm looking to buy a 993 Turbo to be my daily driver. Some of the European cars wasn't equiped with a cruise control. I use the cruise control all the time on my current daily driver as the speed limits are so strict and the fines are huge where I live.

Would it be reasonably easy to retrofit a cruise control to a 993 Turbo or should I just forget all the cars which don't have one and just look at the ones which have it?

Pry, good question. You should post this question on the 993 Turbo Forum too. I use cruise control all the time.

Thanks, didn't even notice that section.
I'll post it over there too.

shouldn't be too hard, but obviously will be expensive if you buy new parts.

I will do my best to be clear,
If I had a no-cruise turbo and need to retrofit....there are 2 things to bare in mind
1 - is the parts and 2- labor (or no labor for a rennlister)

parts:
1-cruise motor $50 - $100 ebay used (easy to get)
2- accelerator hook cable for turbo and miscellaneous tidbits + bracket, very hard to find used, and new cost ~$100
3-Control unit + coding module (easy to get) used ebay $150 - $250
4- column controls new $500 - used $100 ebay if lucky

labor:
engenders retrofitting the motor, hooked to accelerator flap, on intake flaps on engine
removing steering wheel and retrofitting column controls
removing seat and installing control unit to harness.
+/- 4 hour job
regards

Do you reckon the harness is already there?

I've always had a question about the Porsches cruise control, so I'll hijack this thread a little and ask here, sorry.

When in cruise control on my 2006 Boxster, if I press the clutch to pass and downshift, the cruise cuts off. If I do the same thing in the '97 Turbo, the cruise stays ON, and once the downshift or upshift is complete, the cruise re-engauges, and goes back to the speed limit that was previously just set. Why the difference? Thanks.

eh, probably some safety feature.

Finding that stalk module used is tough given that you have OBC and the cruise.

Cruise control parameter signals are 5

1-lever A
2- lever B
3- lever C
4- Stop switch
5- Clutch switch

check the clutch micro switch.

I don't believe some 96 cars had clutch microswitches as you don't need to depress the clutch pedal to start the car.

I believe the manual actually references that you can push the clutch without it interupting the cruise control.

thats what I wrote initially in my post, but I edited the thread since I am not 100 % sure, and the PET shows micro switches for all M454/M480 cars

technically, I do not know how this is possible, since the revs will blow up, I will research a bit to see how, thanks

The OBC stalk can be removed from the old switch cluster and transferred to the new cluster.

Funny, I dumped my CC and SAI when I did my Vram conversion.

Cheers,
Joe
