Default Broken Tach Bezel-- Housing for sale?

I noticed the bezel on my tach flopping a bit and there seems to be a split in the housing just as described here in this very detailed post with pictures by Gonzilla: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=34752

Upon doing a search it looks like this is a fairly common problem.

Does anyone have a tach housing for sale?

I called Sunset and they will only sell you the whole unit, including the tach itself (which I don't need and which, of course, is very pricey).

TIA,
Rome

thanks...I called them, and they too sell the full unit (or at least that is their preference based on what's in stock).

You can try Paul's Speedometers in Redondo Beach. Apparently he does have lots of parts.

This is about as cheap as I've seen for a complete unit:

Tach on Ebay

Another one

I just went through this with Palo Alto Speedometer.

I think is was $700 to repair with a new housing and $1,500 for a completely new unit.

I presume you opted not to pursue that option....?

Good Lord. That's right up there with sport seats!

You would be lucky to get ONE sport seat for $1,500!

Anyway, you try buying a NOS part from Porsche and see what it's like!

I kid. I think i meant to say something along the lines of "OBC tachs are the new sport seats," but it didn't come out that way. But seriously, $1500 for a tach is insane. With or without OBC. I had no idea they were getting that expensive.

Rome, I'd also go with used tach. One strong hint, though. Look _carefully_ at the color of your needles. They will be either orange, red or something in between. Try to match the tach you're buying to this color. If you look at Andreas' two ebay listings above you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

Oh, I have a set of gauges with NR silver faces on my bench. Guess what, the tach housing is also broken. I was thinking of possibly epoxying it but have since bought all black faced replacement gauges and ended up with a bunch of gauges I need to sell.

No worries and I agree, but did not have much choice.

I've carefully super glued the cracked area on a friend's tach. The final product was difficult to detect with the tach out, much less with it installed.

Thanks all (and thank you Andreas for those links). If I can't find just the housing I may go with the used tach and disassemble the housing and use only that part. My tach has the Carrera S (C2S), so I prefer to kee the same tach. Plus, the tach mechanism works fine.

I thought about supergluing it back in place, but I suspect it won't last over time and I want it to be done right.
