Caught my eye on 9Magazine.com a few days ago, since a RLer owns a white 993 GT1, & my car's been garaged with a white 996 GT1.
FWIW, €1.3M = $1.9M USD.
"Super Rare Porsche 911 GT1 Goes on Sale"
One of the most rare Porsche’s ever created is currently for sale in Japan; the 911 GT1 Straßenversion.
The 911 GT1 was built for Porsche’s participation in the GT1 class in the 1996 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and sportscar racing. Homologation standards required that a total of 25 cars be built for road use. The limited-production street-legal version was labeled the 911 GT1 Straßenversion (Street version), which is a road-going racing car.
Although the engine of the road-going 911 GT1 had to be slightly de-tuned to 536hp to meet European emissions laws, the car offered here has a total output of 690 horsepower, which enables it to accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in 3.3 seconds. The top speed is a whopping 378km/h.
This car has only 900km and is on sale in Kyoto, Japan.

Thankfully, yes.
In fact, IIRC, there are more 993 parts on the latter GT1 even though it has the 'runny egg' 996 headlights!
I think it was mostly a marketing move on Porsche's part to try to align the later GT1 with their upcoming 996.

Read more about him & his ride in Excellence Magazine:
Congratulations on this month's GT1 feature Perfect article on what's arguably the perfect 993!
Many favorite parts, but simply the best car quote ever ends the article, especially considering the significance of this royal yet brutal 993:

I want to continue to do that. You can't take it with you, so you may as well enjoy it."
