993 Muffler overhaul.
First, thanks to Darin for providing insight and inspiration. I wanted to do this myself (with a little help) to free up his time to get those Wide Ovals made up for us. Please do nto take this as a hit against FDMotorsports.
After giving plenty of thought to the exhaust and enjoying the Supercup rear sections, I decided to go out on a limb and create my own.
Starting point:
Split canisters showing filler. Yum.
Taking a look at the Stock Gillette exhaust from my C2S and comparing it to the turbo muffler, I figured the best option is to simply clean up the airflow. Notice how the turbo muffler has perforated sections that provide a clean pass through when exhaust is forced (WOT) but no cross tube (possible motor sound option as the car is optioned.
Split C2S muffler equipped with Motor Sound Option:

Removed internals that simply “dumped” gasses into chamber and forced them out the exit tube:
New elbows and another diction of perf tube in place:
Lastly, sent them out for a complete polish. Yeah, I know they will not stay that way, but if I keep on top of it and limit the amount of rain driving, they might pick up a nice bronze/blue hue as with my previous rides.
Next up- Dyno with Supercups vs. these. I expect a raspy sound as with the Supercups, but these look closer to stock and will permit the addition of the Fister Wide Ovals!

Wow. Thank you so much for sharing. What is the story with the "turbo" muffler? Is that someone else's mods on a 993 muffler, or is that another "OE" muffler?

No idea on either question, but lol'd at the "cans"...That is the first time anyone has said that to me. Usually my wife gets those comments.

Fabspeed supercups off, modified OE muffs on.
INstalled and fired it up and felt a bit sad inside. The car rumbled and idled the way it did when I picked it up from PO.
"crap", I thought...
I backed it out of the garage and took it out for a short drive, letting it warm up for about 3 miles then pulled on to a freeway onramp and opened it up.
...
Not much more to say other than it is freaking PERFECT! At WOT the car comes alive. Full sound and no drone, no blap and no scrappy sounds.
I am pleased with the turn out. It is a bit more civilized than the Cups, I miss the burble and the occasional backfire sounds and yes, I miss the juvenile "race car" sounds but I think my neighbors will thank me later.
So long, Supercups. You will be missed. Be good to Richard and enjoy the time in Germany.

Fess up! Those aren't novice fillets. Inquiring minds want to know...Where did you p/u the welding skills? As the saying goes, "Children: Do not attempt at home without adult supervision"
