Interesting Facts on the Porsche Factory Tour in Zuffenhausen for 2011
Based on another posting here I started doing some homework for an upcoming trip to Europe in September. I want to do the factory
tour in Zuffenhausen. Paddy gave me the contact information to set up a reservation for the tour. Others have gone there and were unable to get a tour because they didn't have a reservation.
I emailed werksfuehrungen@porsche.de for an appointment and Christian Hoenniger of Porsche Public Relations got back to me within 24 hours.
Two things in his email were notable for anyone planning on going there in 2011;
"We kindly advise you that due to construction work within the plant in
Zuffenhausen, tours may only be offered reduced. Till the end of 2011 we
can guarantee only a tour of the engine shop!"
"Due to official work vacations and construction work in the plant, we do
not offer any tours between July 22nd 2011 and September 05th, 2011."
I'll still email him for a reservation and just hope that we can see more than just the engine shop.

Your local dealer is also a great contact to set up a factory tour. Often times, they have more "pull" to get you in than if you deal directly with the factory. Having been there less than a year ago, even seeing just the engine shop is worth it if you are there.

I was just there this month. Christian gave me the same response when I started to make my reservation. I was lucky and got to see the engine and main plant. It was great. I was amazed at how close I was able to get to the assembly line and workers. An A+ tour.

Depending what sort of secret stuff they are doing that day, the normal tour may skip certain sections.
They wouldn't allow us to watch the marriage of the engine/drivetrain with the chassis in March.
