I read the posts on the Gallardo with great interest. I'm sure it is a great car, though probably too hard edged for me. It is also about as subtle as an elephant in heat (a line from the movie Putney Swope that has stuck in my head for some 30 yrs.) at my age I would look silly in it and I prefer under the radar...Cheers.....Chris

I go back to the original post--lots of references to what the press says is "hot" and lots of moving from this-to-that. If you've already had a regular 993 and 997, you pretty much know how each drives. And that's quite different. Now put that in context of both what a 993 with more power is like (and mere power is what you said you got bored with in the 997), and a 997 is like with a manual transmission coupled to a rev-happy engine. I'm guessing it will be a tough call.
(And I just have to comment on whatever was being discussed with G50 6 speeds as they exist in 993s. I've got the stock one in the 4S, and the regeared one in the yellow car. Massive difference. But I'm not sure how you gear a sub-300HP/3200lb. car to run at an effective US cruising speed of 2800-3000RPM in top gear while maintaining some semblance of fuel economy, and come up with different gear splits. These things aren't the 2.4L of yesteryear.)

I'm sure Mat will sell you his. (Or build you one similar. But even he's bailed on 4.0 engines.) And I'm sure Masuo or Peter would sell you theirs for the right price. Then you could run 1st overall! Well, except for Bob.

996's are pretty much best suited as "race cars"
997.1 and .2 do double duty very well
contact Mark @ FD motorsports, he recently sold a sweet turbo to purchase a GT3.

I was the one that bought MarkD 993TT, coming from a 993 C2.
After driving the 993TT for the last couple months experiencing that boost and enjoying a different type of driving experience. I live in Colorado, lots of open roads, lots of opportunity to maximize what a 993TT can do.
With that said, I already look ahead to when I buy a GT3 or GT3RS. I love Porsches and before I drop off this planet, I want to experience as many as possible. It's a curse in terms of the itch that can't be scratched.
Either car, either way, if you are a person who can't sit still, cut out the middle man and go with the GT3. I'm not saying a 993TT is below a GT3, its just a GT3 or RS seems to be the next logical Porsche to experience for me.

I have to quote Chris W "Is this place great or what? Thanks to all of you for your comments, especially Dr Jim. The planets have aligned for me yet again. My friend wants to sell his 2010 GT3 and to that end will lend it to me for one month for the cost of one payment (2,500) or I'll give him 100 per day unlimited mileage. I have also found a 23,000 mile 993 TT in a color combo I prefer. At the same time a good friend of many years would like to buy my 993. I am seeking a fair price. Here goes: 95 C2 Coupe polar silver/blk, comfort seats left and right, ABD, new Alpine 126 with cd/Bluetooth and infinity speakers. I purchased car on 12/30/10 with 47,800 for 31,600. Zero paintwork Florida car with stamped maint. records from Champion. I had Tif's in Annapolis, MD do the following: Koni FSD's, ROW springs, HID's, new shift tube and all joints, remove distributor and send to Steve at Rennsport for rebuild, tie rod ends, dust covers and boots, Carnewal front protection bar, new battery, align, corner balance set kinematic toe (after one track day the car was returned to Tif's to confirm settings remained correct...they did) all fluids changed including brake and transmission. He was given an open check book to make the car perfect. Other stuff was done but too small to mention here. Tif is not cheap, nor should he be. The car has performed flawlessly since then and now has 55,375 miles. What is a fair price?
