993 Hardbacks or 997 GT3 w/Alcantara seats
So not much left to do to my 993TT except drive it and enjoy. I have added a few cosmetic mods, but I got obsessed recently with finding some new seats. I found a pair of 997 GT3 seats with alcantara inserts, and a set of black/black 993 hardbacks. Both are in excellent condition, no rips, no tears, no real signs of wear at all (9.75/10)
My question is: which one do I keep?
- Hardbacks don't need much 'splaining
- GT3 seats compliment the alcantara on the steering wheel, ebrake and shifter
I have attached some pics. Maybe a side-by-side in the car bake-off this weekend and then a poll is in my future...?
I will keep one set and sell the other.

yea...another vote for the 993 HB's.
The Alcantara looks nice in the 997 seats, but...what the hell is that "thing" at the seat back top? Is it some kind of hook? Don't 996 sport seats have that abomination also...?
Really destroy's the view from the back.
So, 993 HB's Tony...painted GR to match the brakes...and seatbelts natch...

OK...I'll throw in my $.02: I actually love the Alcantara as a great compliment to the boot, e-break and steering wheel. As far as the hook on the seatbacks...who will ever be in the back to care? My 9-yr old son never asked in my 997...I think it's supposed to be a coat hanger...but...really?
Spidey--I've not seen the Acantara boot and e-break. Did you get that done at a custom shop, or...?

Dumped my hardbacks for a set of 997 seats and haven't looked back. I'm 5'10, 160 and the 997 seats fit me better. They actually hold me in well enough that I didn't notice a difference between them and my recaro pp's so I dumped those as well. Installation was super easy as well and I made $2,000 during the conversion. Either way you can't go wrong though.

I recently added the GT3 Alcantera seats to my car. They are excellent and look great in the 993. If I could have purchased 993 Sport seats for the same price, I would have purchased them. But they are not as comfortable / supportive.

I've had both. The 993'sHB aren't as comfortable, but look right. The 997 gt3s are great seats and hold you tight, but the color is a little off for the 993 black.
Given that the 993 HB's cost twice as much, vote for the gt3 rs. The 997 sit lower and can accommodate a taller driver.

Looks like a majority for the traditional look 993 Hardbacks. A couple neutrals and a few for the GT3. I may take out my passenger seat this week and put both in and take some pics and repost.
Yes, price wise, its about a 2k difference which is nothing to sneeze at. I couldn't make a decision so I bought them both figuring once I got them here, it would be a no brainer....not so much...
^^^ thanks guys. I agree, I always like that classic look. I found the GT3 seats first and didn't expect to find the 993 hardbacks.
Yep, looks like a coat hanger of sorts. Painted backs in GR would look hot!
Yes, I recently posted a pic of a GT3RS with fully painted backs in gloss orange. It looked awesome.
You inspired my dilemma, looks great in your car.
Interesting opinion on the black. Confirms that I need to see them in the car before I choose. Thanks for the input on the comfort.
Thanks for the compliments. The wheel, ebrake where done by previous owner (MarkD from FD Motorsports). He did the shifter himself and had Don at Dallas Custom Steering Wheels do the wheel and ebrake.

Yep, the price gap is fairly large and does impact my decision.

Tony, either one would look good in your car - but my vote would be for the 993 hardbacks - classic. It would be very interesting to see a picture with the two different seats in the car.
