Default Wheel restoration in SoCal

I got 2 Turbo Twists refinished At Wheel Enhancements. I could have done better with a can of Krylon, so I got my money back.

Does anybody know of an outfit who can refinish them to look like factory?

Any help is appreciated.

I have had excellent results with Weidman Wheels in Oroville CA. Slow and expensive, but results were worth it.

I also had excellent results at a local body shop stripping and refinishing some wheels when the wheels just needed paint.

I have had several wheels stripped and powder coated at Wheels America. $400 for all four. Very nice results.

For O.C. Area, try Al Reed in Anaheim. Pretty straight up guy.

Wheel enhancements is mucho expensive. I've used Dr. Wheel (if the damage is just confined to a small spot - they are mobile and come to you) or Globe Tire on La Cienega if I want to refinish the entire wheel. Good results with both.

+1 for Al Reed. A colorful character who's somewhat of a P-car wheel specialist as well: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=44637

Al Reed is one of the two go-to guys for Fuchs, that is certain.

Some pretty heavyweight recommendations.
I'll check out Al Reed also.

Photos to come.

Just be prepared for a wait, most likely.

Funny how times change. When I got involved in Porsches over 20 years ago, Robert Wood (later Wheel Enhancement) were the guys. Sad to see good businesses go **** up, but that's life. Some reinvent themselves successfully, others circle the drain.

Kinesis, Fikse, etc...

Best,

Matt

+1 for Al Reed. I used them to strip the annodize and then powder coat the centers and polish the rims on a set of Fuchs off my 89 Carrera. Did a fantastic job. Very reasonable on cost. Turnaround was about 2 weeks.

Hadn't heard Wheel Enhancement (I remember Robert Wood as well) was going downhill. The wheels on my 914 in my avatar came from them several years ago- they looked and still look great. Need some similar wheels for another 914 I'm restoring so now I need to shop around apparently...

I used a place called Brite Wheels in Redondo Beach years ago. I don't know if they are still there or not. it is a one man shop, so it took some time, but I was pleased with the results.

He polished some Fuch 7s and 9s for me.
