1995 C4 VS 1997 C4S

Good choice, I think, going with the C2S; the car weighs about 125 lbs less than C4S, which is worth something like 25hp.
Though they have a basket handle, in my next life I would look for an early '95; no PITA immobilizer and no PITA OBD-II with SAI issues.

Problem with the 95 is you can not get the widebody correct? Would not having those options outweigh losing the widebody?

Okay, fine, 12.5 hp.
Gymguy, it really comes down to personal choice and also how you are going to use the car.
My late '95 has been my DD since new, and as such, I want reliability.
Though it doesn't happen often, when the immobilizer goes hinky you can be royally screwed.
The SAI, depending upon your local emission requirements, can cause sleepless nights but won't affect reliability.
Those wide butts are pretty though, I gotta admit!

As I have both, here is my take.....
Every 993 is slightly different, they all have their own "feel" & options.
Both of my cars have a ton of options, both have sport seats, both have factory M030. As well as LSD/ABD.
95 C4
Classic Porsche look, simple & elegant. Also doesn't attract a lot of attention.
95's have a raw engine feel. You feel more connected to the throttle, & they "feel" faster, as the power builds, then takes off in the high end. They also rev slower then the 96+ & have a TON less midrange torque.
Good steering feel & driving dynamics. Good brakes. Feels light & planted.
Slightly cheaper to maintain, due to less O2 sensors, smaller cheaper brakes, Smaller tires, less stone chips on the smaller fender flares.
ODBI or ODBII, the problems are the SAME, just no light goes on for the 95, doesn't mean there isn's something wrong. SAI, is SAI regardless of year, or light.
97 C4S, perhaps one of the SEXIEST 911's ever made. Gets a lot of attention.
More money to purchase, more money to maintain, more to insure. Should have HID headlamps, BIG RED brakes, Turbo bumper, Wide fender, BIG rubber, basically all the turbo stuff, minus, the turbos.
Extremely stable, very responsive, has almost limitless grip. Engine is very rev happy, but a bit to smooth & refined. The gas pedal can feel a little dead VS the 95. Feels like it has less HP. But goes through the gears faster, & hits the top end much faster. Once you are in the "fun zone" (over 4500rpms) the gas feels more connected & responsive. Just plain drives different from the 95, feels like more of everything, the 95 on Steroids.
They (&C2S) are always going to be worth more then a NB (narrow body) 993. They are one of the most desirable cars to own, & usually are well cared for.
If you have the $$ get the WB, if it's a Aero Kit II car, it will add a little $$ to the price. Get one in good shape, & take care of it, it will take care of you. Both of my cars have been rock solid, & never let me down. I just got back from a 1800mi road trip in the C4S & had an AWESOME time.

You basically remove all the AWD stuff from the trans output shaft to the front wheels. Then there is a couple of parts that cap off the transmission where the drive shaft was. I thinks it's like $300 worth of parts.
If you do a search on it, there is a how to with the parts needed.
My vote is to keep it AWD!!!

Thanks for the info!
I've been looking around WD specifically C2S, but they aren't that many in the market and the price is way to high to present to my boss at home,,, sorta wanted to go with 2WD since we already have 4WD Cayenne for that purpose.
May I ask whether I can borrow few hours of your time to have you test drive 993 WD when I find the right one?
Would be great to have a person around with the great knowledge, of course I'll definitely have it PPI prior to purchase.

To the "average" person, one wouldnt know the difference between a C4 and C4S. People who know Porsche's, thats another story.
Im a happy owner of a 95 C4 and will probably skip the "S" in the WB non turbos and go to the 993 turbo (not turbo S) with my next purchase. That is if I buy another.
Ony 589 95 C4s were made and I like the rarity, although its not the rarest in the 993 series.
