Default The journey to Vesuvius.....Not Back in Black

Well, I guess it is as good a time as any to introduce my new love, and new project. I did an engine build, and finally found a car for my engine. The engine, for those who missed it, is a fresh 3.6 with RS intake valves and RS cams. The machine work was done by Steve Weiner.

I am now the proud owner of a C4S. She is black on black, and has 175K on the odometer. I have quite the list of projects planned for her,so this thread will get updates, but not too quickly.

I was fortunate enough to have someone contact me who had heard I was looking for a high mileage car. The car lived it's life in Detroit. She has a few rust spots, but has gotten the approval of my body guy. He assures me she will be show quality when he is done.

I know some will be curious as to what I might be planning, so here it is. Feel free to make suggestions, or remind me of what I have missed.

I have already ordered all new rotors, brakes, and misc. parts. I have ordered new M033 springs and FSD shocks.

I have a split grill coming from Sunset.

The engine will be dropped and replaced with a fresh one, along motor mounts and the associated "while your in there"

The advantage of northern climate is a pristine interior, although the driver's seat does show wear.

I have hard back sport seats waiting, along with a RSD. I also have a 3 spoke wheel, carbon fibre shifter and e-brake, and gauge trim rings.

Once all the mechanical work is complete, she will be taken apart and have a full glass out respray...... complete with color change. I will be painting her Vesuvius, as you can see a test stripe on the rear fender.

I will then have to decide on wheels. I am leaning towards LM's.

Let the fun begin.

Emerald, can't wait to see the progression. Love the color change plan and overhaul. You're going to give a second life to this car for many years of enjoyment.

Nice! Sounds like a great project to save a widebody that might have otherwise been treated poorly in someone else's hands....

Man, that's gonna be awesome. I imagine that this will be one of my favorite RL 993s once it's done.

Actually, I plan on dividing it up so I don't get overwhelmed. It should keep me busy a while.

Thanks,
Emerald

Hey Brendan,

The body shop is Don Ott's in Louisville,Ky. He has been over the car, and given my a quote, and yes, it is worth hauling up there to have him do it.

PM if you are interested. You might find a good shop locally, I know there are a couple that have been recommended. This is a small family business that does show quality work.
