Default Spare remote?

O.K. So its been a month now and the PO hasn't been able to cough up a spare key OR a second remote, both of which I would like to have. The spare key seems to be no problem, most of the usual vendors have one version or another. Anything from the original factory 'lighted' key with 'crest' for $80.00 to the simple 'master key' for $8.00.

However the closest I can come so far to replacing the remote is at Pelican where they show the 'case only'...'no circuit board or battery' in their parts listings.

Where do you get find the complete unit? In Germany?

Sunset Porsche.

I bought two spare remotes for US$256.84 late last year; prices probably went up a bit since.

When you program the two new remotes, you program all of them including your present remote at the same time. Any other remotes that were previously programmed in, are then deleted from your immobilizer's memory. You can program up to 4 remotes.

You will need the code to program them into memory.

Alex, is this the 'Sunset Porsche' you are referring to: http://www.sunsetimports.com/ ? They are a chain of dealers in the northwest US it would seem...and no way to check parts online, you have to 'fill in a form' and someone will, someday, get back to you?

Its the only 'Sunset Porsche' that came up in Google...

Yes, just call them on the toll free number and ask for Luke in Porsche parts.

They require you to fax them a signed form with the amount entered, etc. Not a big deal considering the massive savings. A remote here was double the price.

OK, so I'll have to wait until Monday....grrr :-). Just as long as I have the right place. Seemed odd to be ordering parts from a Porsche dealer in Portland Oregon. But $ is $ and if the $$ are right and the parts are OEM then I'm a happy owner!

ebay:

I found a blank key with the lighted plastic top for $55. A local locksmith cut the key blank for $6. It works just fine.

Also, found a remote on ebay for $132.50. (The seller had lost his spare, bought a new one, and then found the lost one)

The local Porsche dealer prices were a lot higher.

Hmmm, the only one I found on eBay was 149.00 'buy it now', and it is for a Turbo, not sure if there is any difference thought.

Yep, I almost always call Bob at Sunset for my factory parts needs. Hennessy in Atlanta is usually close on price as well.

Jim
Part number: 993 618 259 02, 315 MHz.

The label on the back of your remote should list the following:
FCC ID LXP RKY 116
CANADA: 2298101295
ROBERT BOSCH RK116

Sellers on eBay were always more expensive than Sunset.
